Belgium
Belgium is bordered by the North Sea, the Netherlands, Germany, France and Luxembourg. Belgium is divided into three regions. The Dutch-Flemish Region comprises the provinces of Antwerp, Limburg, East Flanders, Flemish Brabant and West Flanders. The Walloon Region consists of the French and German speaking provinces Walloon Brabant, Hainaut, Liège, Namur and Luxembourg. The Brussels-Capital Region with the capital Brussels has French and Dutch speaking inhabitants. Brussels is also the administrative centre of the European Union.
A large part of Belgium consists of lowlands, especially the coastal plain near the North Sea. The south side features the Ardennes, a region characterized by woods and rocks. More than a quarter of the total land area is covered with forest. In the scenic areas 'Kempen' and 'Hoge Venen' you can thoroughly enjoy nature.
The many historic buildings and museums draw many tourists who book a hotel in Bruges, Brussels, Ghent or Antwerp each year. During a day in the city there is much to discover in the culinary field: from Belgian waffles and Flemish fries to delicious bonbons and a selection of beers.
