Fashion Museum Antwerp
Since the nineties of the last century Antwerp is also known as a fashion city, thanks to some successful alumni from the Fashion Academy. The most famous are the so called Antwerp Six: Walter Van Beirendonck, Ann Demeulemeester, Dries Van Noten, Dirk Van Saene, Dirk Bikkembergs and Marina Yee. It is therefore only appropriate that a fashion museum is located in the city.
The Antwerp Fashion Museum - also called MoMu - has an extensive collection of over 25,000 items such as clothing, shoes, accessories and designs. Many designs are from the Fashion Academy and its famous alumni. On display are both historical costumes from the 16th-century as well as pieces by contemporary designers. Twice a year exhibitions around one theme are held that display a part of the large collection.
