Walloon Brabant
The youngest and smallest province of Belgium is Walloon Brabant. The province came into existence in 1995, when the former province of Brabant was separated into a Flemish part and a Walloon part and the Brussels Capital Region, right along the language barrier. In provincial capital Wavre lies amusement park Walibi Belgium.
South of Brussels, you can admire beautiful castles in the green Brabant Ardennes. This area also includes the Genval lake and the provincial domain Bois des Rêves. Perhaps the most famous place in Walloon Brabant is Waterloo, where in 1815 the famous battle took place.
