West Flanders
West Flanders covers the coast and the Bruges woodland. The capital of the province is the medieval city of Bruges. This romantic city is one large open air museum. Popular activities in the historic centre are a cruise on the canals, go sightseeing in the city and then enjoying dinner in one of the many romantic restaurants. The Bruges woodland is a green region with castles and abbeys, quaint villages and nature reserves. It is a wonderful area for cycling and walking.
Pure air and a real holiday feeling, that's what makes the Flemish coast so attractive, but also the miles-long sandy beaches and promenades along the sea where you can walk for hours. Add the charming seaside towns with plenty to experience for young and old, cafes, terraces and restaurants and you'll understand that the Flemish coast is a popular year-'round destination for a weekend away or a holiday.
