Town hall of Bruges
The town hall of Bruges ('Stadhuis') is one of the most beautiful town halls in Belgium. The ornamental façade was completed in the 14th century, but the statues in the niches are modern representations of the Counts of Flanders. The magnificent façade of the town hall of Bruges served as inspiration for the town halls of Brussels, Ghent and Louvain (Leuven).
The small sheriff hall and the large sheriff hall were merged into the richly decorated Gothic Hall over time, which is well-known for its magnificent vaulted ceiling. The paintings in the Gothic Hall show the history of the city.
