Botanical Garden in Leuven
The Hortus Botanicus Lovaniensis in Leuven, 'De Kruidtuin' in popular parlance, is the oldest botanical garden in Belgium. This herb garden dates from the early eighteenth century.
De Kruidtuin used to be attached to medical science, but later on also ornamental and rare plants were added. Nowadays, the more than 2 ha botanical garden has an extensive collection of trees, shrubs, herbaceous and water plants.
