Arnhem
Arnhem is the capital of the province of Gelderland. This city is known as a very green city due to its many parks and its proximity to the beautiful nature reserve the Veluwe. Arnhem was even declared the greenest city of Europe in 2009. The river Rhine runs through Arnhem and provides a lot of shipping traffic. The beautiful football stadium Gelredome is also used for large concerts. Famous artists such as U2, Madonna and Bruce Springsteen have performed here.
For children, the Burgers' Zoo is an absolute must. The city centre has many nice cafes and restaurants where you can enjoy dishes from around the world. There's a great variety of shops, ranging from modern clothing shops to antiquarians.
