Houses of Parliament Binnenhof The Hague
The Binnenhof (Inner Courtyard) is the centre of Dutch politics. The grounds of the Binnenhof were bought by count Floris IV of Holland in 1229. Originally the Binnenhof was only a courtyard with walls and the count's residence in the middle. The construction of a castle on the Binnenhof was completed under count Floris V. From this moment onwards the Binnenhof was considered to be the capital for the counts of Holland. Now the Dutch parliament has its seat here.
