Culture and Nature Parks in The Netherlands
Every season nature surprises us with a new landscape: a green oasis in the summer, a magnificent display of colour in the autumn, a white wonderland in the winter and the beautiful, blossoming array of flowers in the spring. Nature is a stunning and inspiring surrounding for our culture.
Nationale Park De Hoge Veluwe is one of the oldest en largest national parks in the Netherlands. Together with the Kröller-Müller Museum and the sculpture gardens, this park forms a unique combination of nature, art and architecture. The Utrechtse Heuvelrug is a national park where you can take amazing walks and cycling trips. The same goes for the Brabantse Biesbosch and the Drentsche Aa. In the middle of Drenthe is where the Remembrance Centre Kamp Westerbork lies, now a place of commemoration for the lives of hundreds of thousands of Dutch Jews.
The windmills at Kinderdijk are a symbol of the century old struggle against water in the Netherlands and are unique in the world. The windmills are part of the UNESCO World Heritage List, and rightly so.
