Stadsschouwburg Groningen
The Stadsschouwburg in Groningen is the most important theatre in Groningen. The stately building on the Turfsingel dates from 1883 and was designed by Frederick William Gendron and Hugo Pieter Vogel.
The building is a so-called neo-Renaissance building that looks like a temple. The main hall has a classic layout with three superposed rows of balconies. The acoustics in the theatre are especially well known, guaranteeing full enjoyment of opera, theatre, drama, dance and cabaret.
Many cabaret performances that take place in Stadsschouwburg Groningen are recorded for broadcasting on television, because the hall is renowned for its excellent acoustics and traditional layout. A visit to this building, or even attending a performance is certainly worthwhile.
