Dutch National Museum of Antiquities
Het Rijksmuseum van Oudheden (national museum of ancient times) is located in the historical heart of the city of Leiden. The museum's archaeological collection originates from four different regions: the Netherlands, Egypt, the Near East and the world of classical antiquity.
The collection consists of more than 80,000 objects. There are majestic statues of Roman emperors, prehistoric golden jewellery, as well as impressive Egyptian mummy cases and Etruscan masterpieces in bronze. In the permanent presentations, you can admire almost 6,000 objects from that enormous collection. The other objects are kept in storage depots.
The museum is only a 10-minute walk from train station Leiden Centraal. It is diffilcult to parking near the museum and the best place to park your car would be Haagweg car park. A shuttle bus will transport you to the museum.
