Zeeland coast
The coast of the province of Zeeland has long been a major attraction for Dutch and German tourists. Because the province formerly consisted of islands, it has a very long coastline and the sea is never far away. The best known beach resorts are Burgh-Haamstede, Renesse, Cadzand and the artistic Domburg, which has the most hotels.
The sandy beaches and dunes so characteristic of the Netherlands can be found in abundance in Zeeland. Enjoy a breath of fresh air, a spot of sunbathing on the beach during the summer months or cycle along the well constructed bicycle paths. There is something here for everyone!
Are you looking for something a bit more peaceful and do you enjoy beautiful views as well as flora and fauna? Then you should visit the Oosterschelde coast with its clear water and lovely villages that are less acquianted with mass tourism.
Are you a water sports enthusiast but you don't like high waves? Then the Veersemeer is a good destination for you. Once a North Sea inlet, the Veersemeer has since been closed off by the dike near Vrouwenpolder.
