Limburg
The hilly landscape and picturesque villages of Limburg are unique in the otherwise quite flat Netherlands. The exuberant lifestyle of the Limburg people is also widely known. Enjoy a delicious Limburg flan or a local beer on a terrace. The chances are that you'll come across a castle during a walk or bike ride through the Limburg countryside. The castles Eijsden and Bloemendal in Vaals are just some examples.
The provincial capital Maastricht is rich in history and boasts beautiful buildings. You will also find pleasant, cosy terraces along the squares Vrijthof and Onze-Lieve-Vrouweplein. The city has much to offer in the culinary field.
You can visit the castle ruins and the marl caves in the nearby town Valkenburg. Or treat yourself to a day in the sauna and spa at Thermae 2000. The tourist spot where Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands meet, is called Drielandenpunt (Three Land Point) and you'll find a labyrinth and a tavern here as well.
