South Holland (Zuid-Holland)
An ideal combination of beaches and cities can be found in Zuid-Holland. For fresh air or sunbathing, visit Katwijk, Noordwijk or Scheveningen. You'll find beautiful cities a little bit more inland: Rotterdam, The Hague and Leiden are waiting to be discovered. A visit in spring is fully recommended, as the bulb-growing area can be found in this province, which bring on an explosion of colours every spring. Zuid-Holland has something for everyone.
Aside from museums, the cities offer various other attractions. Rotterdam has a modern centre and you can of course visit the impressive ports. The Hague is ideal for shopping and for enjoying coffee and appeltaart or a little drink on a terrace. Leiden offers a bit more tranquility and monumental buildings.
