Rotterdam
Dynamic Rotterdam is known for its ports and modern architecture. You can admire the skyscrapers that make up an impressive skyline whilst taking a boat trip along the Kop van Zuid and the pier Wilhelminapier. This boat cruise will also take you through the expansive dock area. The Erasmus Bridge and the yellow Cube Houses in Blaak are other well-known examples of contemporary architecture. Shoppers will love the area around the streets Coolsingel, Lijnbaan, Meent and Beurstraverse. Among Rotterdam people, the underpass at the World Trade Centre is better known as Koopgoot (the shopping gutter).
After shopping, you can dine in one of the many restaurants in the centre. Cuisines from all over the world are represented here. You'll especially find nice restaurants along the streets Witte de Withstraat, Eendrachtsweg, Oude Binnenweg and Nieuwe Binnenweg. Rotterdam also has lots to offer in the way of a fun night out. You can enjoy a theatre performance at the new or old Luxor Theater or at the Rotterdamse Schouwburg. Regular concerts of national and international artists take place at the Ahoy and the football stadium De Kuip. Art lovers can indulge themselves at the Kunsthal and Museum Boijmans van Beuningen. You will find information about the maritime history of the Netherlands and Rotterdam at the Maritime Museum. And to top it all off, fun events are also held in the city every year, including the Metropolis Festival, North Sea Jazz festival, the International Film Festival Rotterdam, Marathon Rotterdam and Motel Mozaïque.
