Museon The Hague
The Museon currently has about 240.000 objects in its collection. From the enormous sperm whale skeleton to an unique ancient Egyptian sarcophagus. From the 'Dutch circle' (a corner measuring instrument) to Roman milestones and a spectacular Allosaurus.
In the permanent exhibition you can marvel at a number of objects from this huge collection. Since the Museon opened, (in 1904!) these objects have been acquired through purchases, donations and exchanges. Characteristic of the objects is that they were all collected for educational purposes. The Museon uses the collection in order to explain things with and not merely for scientific use. Many objects and parts of the collection are unique in the Netherlands.
