The comfortable Hotel Johannes Vermeer is located in a monumental building in the heart of Delft, in an old cigar factory. The former board room can now be booked as a hotel room. The beautiful city has saved its picturesque character from the time of the painter Johannes Vermeer. The hotel is named after the famous 17th century painter who was born in Delft. This contemporary of Rembrandt is one of the most famous painters of the Dutch Golden Age. In the Vermeer Centre you can view reproductions of all his paintings. In the Mauritshuis in The Hague are some of his most famous works View of Delft and Girl with the Pearl Earring.
The luxurious and cosy rooms have air conditioning, free wireless internet, a television with video and an alarm clock. Each room is named after a painting by Johannes Vermeer and offers incredible views of either one of the many canals, or one of the churches. The charming brasserie in the hotel is named after a painting by the old master as well. Brasserie 't Straatje van Vermeer (The Little Street) is loved by many and it is always very pleasant here.

Very friendly, helpful staff. Perfect location for Delft centre.

Noisy music at breakfast!
*my tipAs there is no lift access to upper floors access is difficult with case.
We could not venture past first floor as no handrail on twisting stairs! On requesting a change of room we were given a perfectly good one on first floor. Avoid room at top!!

Hotel Johannes Vermeer - Delft - Historic, Comfortable, and Service
+
- Hotel in the center of Delft and attractions
- Close to Rotterdam by freeway
- Good staff, all spoke English well
- Excellent breakfast
–
- No dinner served but there were plenty of other restaurants within walking distance
- No parking but there is a parking structure at the mall less than .2 mile / .Km
- More expensive and less room than hotels in outer areas - but it is a trade-off for the location and historic conditions.
*my tip- Both churches, especially the new church bell tower
- De Kromme
- Ikea (it is huge)
- All museums; some closed due to winter months
- De Kromme Resturant
- Water Tower Restaurant (Rotterdam)
- Dutch Marine (Mariner) Museum
- Delft Pottery Factory
