Surroundings

Hotel De Plataan is located in the centre of Delf, within walking distance of many museums, shopping streets and historic buildings. The 'Oude Kerk' church, with its characteristic leaning tower, can be found in the canal area. The mausoleum of Willem van Oranje, the founder of the Netherlands, is situated in the 'Nieuwe Kerk' church on 'de Markt'. Under the church floor lies the crypt of the Dutch royal family. But Delft has more to offer than interesting historic sites. Its university makes it a very lively city with many young people and a bustling night-life.

Louise Symons Excellent value hotel: 30 August 2011; 8.8; + We stayed here a year ago, and on our 2nd trip to Delft we came back because it's conveniently located, reasonably priced and the service is good. Our room (one of their cheaper ones) was quite basic but the bed was comfortable, it has a nice view over gardens, and it is very quiet at night. Excellent value. Good breakfasts too. Would definitely return.

Friendly staff and a pleasant reception area with huge windows which doubles as a coffee bar and breakfast room and is a good place to sit and read your guidebook. Excellent fish restaurant just yards away.; - My room didn't have a lot of wardrobe space if you were staying for any length of time which I wasn't: perhaps I have too many clothes...

I had to change bookings several times, all went very well.; - I had ordered a 3 person room, upon arrival the 3rd bed was not available. I complained at the reception who promised to put the 3rd bed into the room. When we came back during night the 3rd bed was not put into the room... I complained the following morning again...no apologies, nothing... I asked for a credit. Unfortunately the only person who can arrange the credit was on vacation. I have been told that it may take approx 2 weeks until the money would be on my account again.

Anonymous: 21 April 2008; 7.0; + Good Staff; - After I left my one day at the hotel, I was a bit sick to my stomach. I fear it may have been caused by the lack of hygiene at breakfast, where guests are free to finger the food and pass on their germs. (I didn't eat anything the day before or afterward, so it was the only meal that could have caused the problem.) Some mechanism is needed to reduce disease transmission during breakfast. Perhaps just pre-cutting the bread and cheese would help.

L. ENZO: 16 April 2008; 9.2; + Ottimo hotel, sicuramente da consigliare. A 10-15 minuti a piedi dalla stazione centrale, ma è una passeggiata piacevole nel centro della cittadina. Accoglienza e personale ottimo. Camere molto confortevoli, colazione stupenda!
