Description
De Smidse has been in the hands of the Bessems family since 1860. In those days tourists used to camp on the pasture across from De Smidse. Grandmother Bessems supplied the guests with food products she sold in the shop next to the forge. In later years the house became a pension and in 1970 the shop was closed to become the dining room of the pension. Nowadays this part of the building houses the inn, and it is still run by the Bessems family.
At the hotel guests will feel like they are staying at grandmother's house. The rooms are basic without facilities such as a television, radio or coffee maker. In return you can enjoy a peaceful atmosphere and a good night's rest. In addition, you can have a pleasant dinner in the cozy restaurant, which offers surprising dishes.
Food and Drinks
Breakfast is served from 08:30 until 10:00 h. The chef and his team daily prepare exciting dishes with regional ingredients. The restaurant is open from 18:30 until 20:30 h.

Surroundings
The hills in the province of Limburg are perfect for hiking and cycling. Via De Smidse you can make a trip with a PDA and learn more about the surrounding area. In the Geul river valley you can also find monumental buildings, such as the Volmolen mill in Epen. This mill was used to make fabrics, and later on it became a grain mill.
