Hotel Asselt is situated in a monumental building dating from 1847. The building was once used as a brewery and in the first half of the 20th century it was a renowned hotel, which was run by the Hendricks sisters. The exterior is entirely in its original state, while the interior has been fitted with all modern conveniences.
The hotel has a beautiful reception area, and you can relax and read a newspaper in the foyer. During the winter guests can unwind by the open hearth in the atmospheric lounge, and if it's nice weather you can laze on the outdoor garden terrace. The hotel has a restaurant where you can lunch or dine every day. The standard rooms are fitted with two separate beds, a flatscreen television, desk and a bathroom with a shower. The bathrooms in the comfort rooms have a bath. The economy rooms have a shared shower and toilet, located in the corridor.
Roermond is a former Hanseatic town with a rich history. There are many monumental buildings in the town centre, such as the 15th century Sint Christoffelkathedraal and the town hall on the Markt square. The Stedelijk Museum Roermond is situated in the former residence of the architect Pierre Cuypers, who designed buildings such as the Rijksmuseum and Amsterdam Central Station, and restored the 13th century Munster church on the Munsterplein in Roermond. There are also many outdoor terraces and cafés located around the Roerkade and Stationsplein.
