Environs
As the largest of the Frisian Islands, Texel has a diverse landscape and charming villages. Apart from the mudflats and the beach, Texel also has dunes, meadows, heaths, woods, and salt marshes. Around the town of Den Hoorn in the south you can discover large bulb-fields that bloom magnificently in the spring. The core of the island is the Hoge Berg, a boulder clay hill between the villages of Oudeschild and Den Burg. It is the island´s highest point, and although it only has a height of 15 m, you can in fact overlook the entire island from this peak.
