De Stadsherberg is situated along the Frisian waterways, close to the centre of Franeker. This historic hotel offers guests a pleasant accommodation, and is known for the hospitality and courtesy of its staff. Franeker is a beautiful old Frisian town in the northwest corner of this province, where past and present meet: a great place for guests to spend an enjoyable day. It is one of the cities, through which the famous Elfstedentocht passes. Between 1774 and 1781, local resident Eise Eysinga established what is now one of the oldest planetariums in the Netherlands. This place is certainly still worth a visit today, giving you a detailed image of our universe.
The sailing routes and cycling paths in the hotel's vicinity ensure guests can actively enjoy themselves outdoors. Only 25 metres from the inn is The Management Academy of Franeker, where weddings can be held. All wedding guests can then carry on and continue their celebrations at de Stadsherberg.

Breakfast at de Stadsherberg is served between 08:00 and 10:00. Guests can also have breakfast earlier or later on request. The inn has an excellent restaurant with a very diverse menu. The kitchen joined the Euro-Toques organisation some years ago. This is an organisation for professional chefs wishing to promote the use of honest, natural food. As such, de Stadsherberg shows that it greatly values healthy, honest and tasty food. The hotel's café is a very nice place to enjoy a drink. The patio belonging to the sun room is also very busy in the summer.
