The Tulip Inn Franeker was built in 1983, on the site of a former motel. As such, the hotel can be easily reached by car, via the A31 motorway. The bus connections to Harlingen and Leeuwarden are also excellent. For business and festive meetings this hotel is a good choice as well. The hotel has five multifunctional conference rooms that can accommodate groups of up to 350 persons. All rooms have the benefit of natural light and are equipped with air conditioning, Internet, and a telephone.
The hotel has a limited number of rental bikes, which guests can use to explore the surroundings of Franeker. At the reception there are maps with bike routes available. Numerous cycle tracks and small winding roads will take you through a versatile landscape with numerous scenic views beneath the ever-changing sky. From 1585 to 1811, Franeker was an important university city, traces of which can still be found today. The 'Planetarium', an astronomic landmark, is also worth visiting. This is the oldest still functioning 'planetarium' in the world, and was built between 1774 and 1781.

A continental breakfast buffet is set up between 06:30 and 10:00 h. from Monday until Saturday, and from 07:00 to 11:00 h. on Sundays. In the evening guests can enjoy a delicious meal in the hotel's restaurant. Whether it is a French menu, regional specialities, or a simple meal, the kitchen staff will prepare it with care and attention. There are special children's menus available as well. The kitchen is open between 12:00 and 21:00 h. If you wish to enjoy the typically Frisian hospitality some more, you can also have a seat at the hotelbar that is open till midnight. Guests can also have a seat in the lounge.
