Carbon is the sixth most common element in the universe. In Genk carbon is used as the central theme for the striking and stylish design hotel. Here one will find a wide variety of amenities and services. Several local designers have created this original and luxurious hotel. The total 'Carbon Experience' consists of the parts: Snooze (hotel), Taste (Food & Wine bar) and Healing (Spa Lounge). The rooms are equipped with facilities such as a flatscreen television, a telephone, an iPod system and a high-tech sound system. A special feature is the lighting system, which can be adjusted to meet guests' individual taste and moods. All rooms are located at the back of the hotel, where you can enjoy a view of the roof garden, measuring 600 m² : a true oasis in the very heart of Genk.
The Hampshire Designhotel - Carbon houses a Spa Lounge of 700m². For €35 per person guests can have access to the bath house for up to 3 hours. This includes the use of a kimono, slippers and a towel. Guests are able to make use of a sauna, hammam (treatments are excluded), 'experience' showers, a steam bath, herbal baths and a snooze room. For hygienic reasons visitors are to visit the bath house nude or wear a loincloth, which are available at the entrance. In the snooze rooms and the restaurant guests need to wear a kimono. Reception staff can provide guests with information about rates for treatments and massages.
The hotel won the award for "Best Interior Design: Restaurant" at the European Hotel Design Awards in London. The American travel website Forbes Traveler has declared the hotel one of the 50 best new hotels in the world! The Carbon hotel is in the top 3 "best new hotels" of Europe in the German travel magazine "Geo". In England, the hotel is listed in the 2009 Condé Nast hot list.
Food and Drinks
An à la carte breakfast is served daily from 06:30 - 10:00.
At the Food & Wine bar guests can enjoy a cup of coffee, a good glass of wine, and a menu offering culinary tapas. The bar is open from 11:30 - 00:00. The restaurant Carbon Gusto is open from 12:00 - 14:30 for lunch, and from 18:00 - 22:00 for dinner. On Sundays the restaurant is only open for dinner.
