Hotel Braams is an almost four centuries old family hotel. It is located on the central square in the characteristic village Gieten. In the heart of the natural beauty of the Hondsrug (chain of hills) you will be sure to enjoy Hotel Braams' comfortable ambience.

Surroundings

Hotel Braams lies in the village of Gieten, on the Brink (central square). Gieten is surrounded by the woods and heaths of the province Drenthe. This nature area is part of the 'Hondsrug,' a sandy stretch of hills that reaches from Emmen to the city of Groningen. This is a great area for a walk or a bike ride. In the lovely natural surroundings you can visit the famous 'hunebedden' (dolmen), which were built by the prehistoric natives of this area. The enormous boulders they are built from were carried to Drenthe by glaciers in the ice age.

Food and Drinks

You can enjoy a delicious breakfast buffet from 07:30 until 10:00. You are very welcome in the restaurant from 1 March 2013. Opening time are Thursday through Monday from 17:30 until 21:00. As a hotel guest you will receive a 10% discount on the à la carte menu. Reservations are recommended.

  • + Ruime nette kamer met TV en sanitair. Goede bedden. Ruime keuze bij het ontbijt. Goede service van het personeel.
  • – Toiletpot stond 5 cm naast de muur waardoor je bijna niet op kon zitten. Kussens op het bed waren wat slap.

Very pleasant hotel in rural area at a reasonable price
  • + Very pleasant stay for 4 nights. Easy-going staff. Restaurant dinners very good at a reasonable price.

  • – The knobs in the bathroom were horrible. I could hardly prevent myself from burning when I took a shower and by accident touched the hot water knob. This really needs attention.

Good Hotel
  • + We booked this Hotel for a motorbike weekend to watch the racing near by. We have had Hotels in Holland before and this has been the best so far. Hotel is in a lovely Dutch rural village. As two blokes on a motorbike holiday, we enjoyed the facilities as they had a squash court, mini gym and sauna, which we took full advantage of. Staff were helpfull and pleasant and rooms were clean, tidy and modern. Hotel is a few hundred years of age with plenty of oldier world character in main areas, Which I liked as not to clinicale. We only ate breakfast at Hotel which was the usual Dutch type of breakfast selection bread, cheese, ham, salami or cearals etc. Unable to comment on resurant as we ate out. which Would use this Hotel again if traveling to Holland.

  • – Would have been nice to have better information about the set menu in the restaurent. It wasn't really clear that the menu was all that was available and not just the specials of the day...
