Van der Valk Hotel Gilze-Rijen is centrally located between the cities Tilburg, Breda, and Antwerpen. The amusement parks De Efteling and Safaripark De Beekse Bergen are also nearby. Food: there was a lot of meat and fatty food around, but almost nothing pleasant for vegetarian people, no real salad for lunch, no vegetables and in addition nothing of good quality (less but good would be more...). The breakfast and lunch room was very, very dark, almost no light around - I would have become depressed when stayed longer!

Had to move rooms twice due to air conditioning. Maids coming in on a "do not disturb" sign. Need brighter lighting for reading. Sports facility should open at 6:00 AM instead of 8:00.

vond het niet een compleet verblijf wegens gemis van bepaalde zaken.

the sport possibilities, the location, kussens and bed very comfortable, bathroom was big, diner was goed en uitgebreid.

snachts kan je niet slapen door het raampje van de balkon en s'ochtends idemdito,vloer erg glad van de badkamer door die laminaat, ik miste een kluis, koelkast. ontbijt was niet uitgebreid en werd niet op tijd aangevuld.Tee was goed, koffie was erg slecht. En vond wel jammer dat je maar 1 soort koffie had (gwone alleen terwijl thee uitgebreid was) personeel aan de balie zijn niet vriendelijk aan de telefoon, persoonlijk aan de balie wel.vomd het overigens erg vervelend dat we helemaal om moesten lopen om te gaan dineren en ontbijten via de buitenkant. Had graag binnendoor een halletjes willen hebben om daarmee van het nieuwe gedeelte naar de ouder te kunnen gaan.

excellent hotel

Excellent , beautiful hotel with great facilities, like a pool in the evening and a very nice restaurant with excellent service.

-For a family of four we had to book 2 rooms which cost us a little more than we planed to. Also the kids ( although not very young, weren't happy staying on their own. -no fridge or coffee/ tea facilities in the rooms. Our children, which are very good swimmers weren't allowed to swim in the evening. As we were traveling all day- we were rather looking forward to swim in the evening. The pool was vacant.why not allow them to swim? What kind of rules? The lifeguard was just sitting there…. - we had to climb and walk through a long corridor to our room. Luckily it was too cold…

Very comfortable room. Excellent breakfast. Very helpful English speaking staff. We benefitted from a two night special offer which made it very good value for money.

No kettle in room which is something visitors from the UK may expect. I would add that we stayed in a number of hotels in France, Netherlands and Germany and none had kettles.

I really canlt think of anything positive to say for this hotel

The reception staff were not attentive - answering phones and being the switchboard operator was clearly a bigger prioirty than the customer standing in front of them, The restaurant was too hot. Eating was an uncomfortable experience, There was no hot water in the morning, This comment was simply brushed off with a "sorry". I certainly would not stay there again.

The weather was hot and although the hotel did not have air conditioning and we were put on a top floor room which was very very hot, we asked for an extra fan and it was put into our room whilst we went for a cooling swim.This did help but only a little bit.

The smoking in all of the Hotel was annoying for my children during the meal times. For such a good Hotel it was sadly in need of air conditioning and should offer families a room on the lower floors so that at least the children could get some sleep on a hot night.

We were not informed when we booked the hotel that the swimming pool (the main reason we chose that one) was going to be out of order. Een goed hotel,met een prima prijs/kwaliteit verhouding

De kwaliteit/prijsverhouding is goed. Het ontbijt was super. Ook het eten in het restaurant was prima. Lekker zwemmen. Het hotel lag mooi centraal voor de uitstapjes die wij wilden maken. Naar Breda, Brussel, Willemstad, Oudenbosch en Zuid Holland.

Doordat het veel regende, was het wat lastig om voor alles buitenom te moeten gaan. Een waterkoker op de kamer zou een goede aanvulling zijn.

Nieuw en luxe "Superior" Kamer waar het op de minpunten na goed toeven is.

1) Verbinding met hoofdgebouw niet gerealiseerd. Geen ontbijt op bed, dit ondanks verjaardag en 4-sterren HOTEL. Personeel bood geen werkbaar alternatief. 2) Zondag Bar gesloten en minibar werkte niet naar behoren. Personeel bood werkbaar alternatief, mede ingegeven door het feit dat beheer minibar extern is belegd. 3) Overdekt naar onbijtzaal niet mogelijk, 4 sterren ?

In grote lijnen tevreden,sommige dingen zijn aan vernieuwing toe

tevreden over klantvriendelijkheid, met vragen kon je gelijk terecht en werd spoedig geholpen.

Het duurde lang voordat we het avondeten kregen, duurde al een kwartier voordat wij het drinken kregen. Konden slecht zitten op de leren stoeltjes an tafel. ( gleden steeds onderuit) Op de slaapkamer was en bleef het ijskoud, terwijl de verwarming op 5 stond, tochtte er terwijl alles dicht was. Het toilet rook erg naar urine,is gelijk schoongemaakt, we hebben extra chloortabletten gekregen om de reuk te voorkomen. ( volgens alles van de riool,we hadden een kamer in het oude gedeelte)

Een koud verblijf met een heerlijk ontbijt.

Uitgebreid ontbijtbuffet. en schone kamers.

Een van de kamers die we geboekt hadden was niet warm te krijgen.Dit was bij de receptie al langer bekend. De eerste oplossing bestond uit het verstrekken van een paar dekens en pas een dag erna konden we toch nog naar een andere kamer. Voor mensen die vegetarisch eten is dit hotel geen aanrader, er staan twee hoofdgerechten op de menukaart,. Pasta met saus en kaas is weinig creatief te noemen. Improviseren voor onze dochter was niet mogelijk. Een simpele kaassoufle was niet te maken.

Goed bereikbaar via snelweg en comfortabele kamers

Een ruime kamer met een bijbehorende ruime badkamer. Het ontbijtbuffet was zeer uitgebreid en ruim opgezet, zodat je je niet met de andere gasten hoefde te verdringen om bij één kan jus d'orange of zo.
