The Asgard Hotel is quietly situated on the edge of the lively city centre of Groningen, within walking distance of all the major tourist attractions. The red stone building dates from the 1930's, and is a lovely example of the architectural style of the Amsterdam School. A lot of attention was paid to the details, when it came to the hotel's interior design. Durable materials such as wood, clay and steel were used. The cosy hotel bar, for example, was completely formed using concrete. The warm colour combinations make a stay at the Asgard Hotel a very enjoyable experience.
The spacious rooms are equipped with all modern amenities, such as box spring beds, a plasma television, a desk with a free high speed Internet connection, a kettle and a safe. A variety of wines, organic beers and other drinks are served in the cosy bar. The hotel does not have a restaurant, but there are plenty of cafés and restaurants in the vicinity. Eating and drinking venues are certainly well represented in Groningen.
