Description
The Asgard Hotel is quietly situated on the edge of the lively inner city of Groningen, within walking distance of all major tourist attractions. The red stone building dates from the 1930's and is a lovely example of the architectural style of the 'Amsterdamse School'. The decoration was done with a lot of attention to details. High-quality materials such as wood, clay and steal have been used. The cosy hotel bar for example, has completely been made out of concrete. The warm colours contribute to an enjoyable stay in the Asgard Hotel.
The spacious rooms are fitted out with all modern amenities, such as box spring beds, a plasma television, desk with a free high speed Internet connection, water cooker and a safe. The very luxurious bathrooms are equipped with a rain shower, underfloor heating, a condensation-free mirror and a hair dryer.
Food and Drinks
The breakfast buffet is set up on weekdays from 07:30 to 10:00 h. and on weekends from 08:30 to 11:00 h. The buffet consists of carefully selected ecological products.
In the atmospheric bar many different wines and ecological beer brands are served together with other beverages. The hotel does not have a restaurant, but there are countless bistros and restaurants within close range. Groningen is known for its abundance of beaneries and night-life venues.

The maritime museum 'Scheepvaartmuseum' and 'Stripmuseum' (museum of comic books) can easily be reached on foot as well.
