Anonymous: 31 March 2011; 4.2; + It's nice inside. The building is quite impressive for Groningen and the hall is relaxing.; - I didn't like the room at all, the beds were the worst I have ever seen. The staff was not really friendly. They don't have any room service, you can't order a tea or something. And you need a car or taxi to go somewhere. I think the price for this hotel should be lower.

Between the 2 mattresses there was a slit of 5 cm, so snuggling up was impossible. :( (The double bed was made out of 2 single beds having wheels so it constantly moved apart in the middle.)

Topias Tuomi Super staff but poor bathroom.: 11 August 2010; 6.8; + Excellent service and friendly personnel. Very nice lobby and restaurant. NIce room aswell.; - They didn't inform us about the rooms bathroom being handicap friendly. So the bathroom had a chair in the middle of the shower, and it didn't look so appealing to go in there. To be frank, the bathroom was below standard.

Petya Pleasant, picturesque, comfortable and noiseless.: 4 July 2010; 8.8; + Pleasant, comfortable, the rooms are clean and nice with big windows, air conditioning, big TV, a desk to work on, clean bathroom and shower, pleasant toiletries offered by the hotel, situated in noiseless beautiful park near the lake! Perfect service, all staff knows English, helpful and cheerful! This was my second stay there because I loved it the first time and I don't regret I went there again! I will stay there if I have to go to Groningen again.; - The only minus is that it is a bit far away from the city center. If you have a car or bike its ok. The buses go in reasonable time frames during the day, but in the evening they are only once per hour.

Short walk to frequent & low cost bus service into & back out of town centre.; - So far out of town, only choice for evening meal is the hotel restaurant. Small selection, emphasis on how prettily the meal is served rather than reasonable quantity: one baby carrot, 3 green beans & c 1 tablespoon of mashed potato to accompany very nicely cooked meat.

Neil Miley Plaza or New Academy, both very good: 24 June 2009; 8.6; + being a bit out of town the Plaza is a very relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant makes up for not being close to the centre of the town when it comes to dinning.; - I arrived in Groningen thinking I had booked the Hampshire New Academy, so had to go to the Plaza for one night before going to the New Academy. I later moved back to the Plaza. Both Hotels are excellent, only the booking system seems to make mistakes (appears more than one customer has had this problem).

Quiet area/; - Hard to find from the bus stop. Suggest posting signs for those walking from the bus. Hotel was not visible from the bus stop.

Ouzounis A nice hotel near the beautiful lakes of Groningen: 25 January 2009; 8.6; + The hotel is a modern, excellent construction, well insulated both heat and noise wise, and offers a nice and comfortable stay. It is very clean, quite and of proper standards. A thing to try is the restaurant - unbelievably nice food.; - Its a bit further out from the city center but the bus service is frequent and the distance not that long.

Breakfast buffet on Sunday morning OK, but staff could not cope with number of guests.

Max Arie Ritsema Hampshire Hotel in Groningen.: 21 October 2008; 9.8; + This was a real surprise hotel! Excellent facility and a great staff. Front desk was very well manned by Edmond. Room was clean and satisfied our needs. Overall I would give it 4 stars.; - It is difficult to find.

Sue Cook Basic but comfortable.: 15 October 2008; 6.0; + large room with separate WC. Swimming pool reasonable (despite green water. The location is also very accessible for the centre of Groningen, without having parking difficulties.; - Cleaners forgot to clean room on 1 of 3 day stay. If you do not literally throw you towels on the floor, they are not touched at all, so left in the sink, or wherever you leave them. The restaurant produces fabulous food but the service is so slow. The bedrooms, although spacious, are very bare / basic. It did not feel like a 4* hotel. That said, quite a friendly hotel.

Restaurant closes stupidly early, and has very minimal, pretentious, menu. Bar smells of tobacco smoke, very poor selection of drinks. window blind broken, window filthy. Got bitten alive by mosquitos while asleep. Difficult to find on the ground, nothing on web site is any help with getting there. Parking odd. Staff very unhelpful. Breakfast average - poor quality cheese and ham, scrambled eggs left out for hours.

Debuyck Mario: 23 October 2006; 7.8; + Zeer mooie lobby en receptie. Vriendelijk en adequaat personeel. De kamer was voldoende en de bedden zeer goed. Mooie ligging van het hotel.; - Het personeel bij het ontbijtbuffet (één persoon) was veel te weinig. De gasten dienden aan een vuile (niet afgedekte tafel te zitten) die dan nadien werd afgeruimd. Het ontbijtbuffet werd ook veel te laat bijgevuld of helemaal niet meer (wegens nogmaals het gebrek aan genoeg personeel). Het ontbijtbuffet op zich was anders heel lekker.

And the people who work there came across relaxed, nice and friendly.; - We had more expectations of breakfast, no fresh juice, hard (old) croissants and bread buns. We looked at the menu's for dinner and it looked high-quality, with that in mind we thought breakfast would be as well. Not bad but not much special. No routedescritions to the lake for walking, biking, renting a boat in the hotel, etc.

Anonymous: 18 August 2006; 7.8; + Staff on desk during day were very friendly; - After studying for an exam in my room all day, i stopped by the bar for a quick coffee. there was no indication/sign stating a private function was going to be taking place. I had just started my coffee when a man starts asking me questions, which i have no idea about and when i say i do not know what is happening, with everyone looking at me,I was quite abruptly asked to leave. Due to the hotels location where else was i supposed to go for a coffee. not happy about that at all.

Vond getikt briefje met boodschap dat er warme chocolademelk is met een plak cake beetje kneuterig.Maak een mooi standaardje! weinig informatie bij de receptie over faciliteiten (moest er zelf om vragen) geen info op de kamer Kleur in het restaurant wel erg donkerbruin, mis een vrolijke noot. Lampen in de liften waren vies (insecten op het glas)
