The Hampshire Hotel is situated in the centre of Groningen. The tranquil location is surrounded by well-established restaurants and pleasant cafés. From the hotel a 10-minute walk will take you to the central market square Grote Markt, with many bars and the pride of Groningen: the impressive church tower Martinitoren.

Groningen is an enjoyable city with many students and a lot of activity. The city has lots of impressive areas of interest, under which the Martinitoren, beautiful courtyards and guesthouses dating back to the 13th century. The city centre can be reached easily from the hotel and offers a wide variety of restaurants, bistros and a vivid nightlife. At the Grote Markt, most of the bars offer a view of the charming square and the Martinitoren. This particular tower used to be about 127 meters in height (417 feet). After Spanish troops were driven out of the city in 1577, bonfires lead to the collapse of a considerable tower section. Nowadays, the tower has been restored to 97 meters and can be spotted from many parts of town.

Those who seek culture can indulge themselves in the Groninger Museum, the maritime Scheepvaartmuseum or the Tabaksmuseum that houses in the same premises. The Hampshire Hotel is conveniently situated nearby restaurants, beaneries and many cafés. Through the lively shopping street Herestraat the city centre can be reached on foot within 10 minutes.

All of the rooms are equipped with a spacious bathroom with shower and toilet, television, desk, internet connection and telephone. Additionally, the Hampshire hotel has a library, where a good book or morning paper can provide the essential peace and quiet. Park somewhere else

Friendly girl on reception, nice views from room, was on the 7th floor.

The car park, we specifically told the girl on check in that we needed our car for 8am on the Sat morning, as we had a long drive to Frankfurt to catch a flight,when we got down there were 2 cars in front of ours and my boyfriend had to move the two cars himself before finally getting ours out of the corner, paying €14.00 per day for parking and we only arrived around 6pm on Thur and had to leave at 8am on Sat, definitely not worth this money, really felt robbed...

Location is great. Within the city and assessible to everything.

Room lights don't always work. Could not get a parking space in the hotel. Would be nice to have a light in the hallway of the room. There isn't a shelf in the shower to place toiletries on. Pity.

Nice people, well equipped bath room, good service. Public internet computer for looking up flights or trains. Good walking distance to main station.

Only minus point: the single glass plate windows - they are a mess. Room is cold at morning if you leave the heaters off, and you hear every sound from the street (being on 3rd floor!). I was woken up each day in the early morning by some cars or trucks.

I had read some negative comments from other guests, so I was pleasantly suprised by everything. Rooms were comfortable and very clean, it was very well situated and had fantastic views from the rooms. Staff was pleasant and helpful and it was very quiet. I had a great night's sleep and I loved the bathroom and shower.

Goed maar duur hotel

Ontbijt is zeer uitgebreid maar daar betaal je ook apart voor. Uitzicht over Groningen stad is fantastisch (5e etage) Centrum is echt vlak achter het hotel, alle restaurants, winkels, bezienswaardigheden en dergelijke op loopafstand.

Kamers zijn erg klein. Ramen enkel glas dus het water loopt er aan de binnenkant met stralen vanaf (belemmerd ook het mooie uitzicht).

de service door de ochtend/middag meid was diep triest. Door een sneeuwstorm moeten lopen naar centraal omdat ze maar 1 taxi wilde bellen, en die ging niet door de storm, toen we buiten stonden reden er weet ik niet hoeveel auto's , en was de weg gewoon begaanbaar.

U biedt een verblijf aan als aanbieding voor € 54,50 per nacht/perkamer, hier komt wel € 50 bij als bijkomende kosten o.a € 14,00 parkeergeld. Dit staat niet duidelijk en snel te vinden op site. Bied voor die € 15 ontbijt een kwaliteitsontbijt met biologische producten aan, dat onderscheidt je van de rest (ik hoef geen 10 soorten broodbeleg). De ontvangst is correct, maar zonder thuisgevoel (zeer formeel). Er werd zeer onhandig gedaan met de geparkeerde auto. Hij moest per se op een bepaalde plaats, maar de auto die ons insloot kon de volgende dag pas na een 20 minuten weggehaald worden.

voor een gezellig ontbijt moet je hier niet zijn ! de rust wordt namelijk verstoord door zeer rumoerige studenten of cursisten. Heel jammer dat u die onder het ontbijt toelaat tot de overigens uitstekende ontbijtruimte.
