Description
On a beautiful place in the middle of the Friesland lies Herberg Oer 't Hout Grou by the large lake Pikmeer. Here everyone gets the opportunity to finally learn to sail, because the private CWO-approved sailing school 'Oer' t Hout has been teaching people for years with a lot of skill and fun. The pier is often filled with sailboats in which the young and the old can try out their skills. In this dynamic and cheerful environment families are very welcome, everyone can now learn how to sail safely and at their own level. Except for sailing, it is fun to sit around the fireplace in the bar area of the hostel, listening to eachothers perilous adventures on the water.
The hostel has a restaurant and a terrace from where you enjoy all the activity on the water, for instance over a glass of wine. In the village of Grou it's nice to have a stroll. Those wanting to go a bit farther can rent a bicycle at the hostel and ride along the beautiful lakes in the neighborhood. There is a bicycle shed. After all the fresh air and activity you will surely sleep blissfully. Herberg Oer 't Hout Grou has simple but good and very affordable rooms (some rooms with bunkbeds) with a private bathroom with shower and toilet, a table and chair and a wardrobe.
Food and Drinks
The breakfast buffet is open each morning from 08:00 to 10:00 h. in the restaurant of Herberg Oer 't Hout Grou. There is a cozy bar area that is open from 17:00 until 01:00h. every day.
The restaurant is only open for dinner from 18:00 to 19:00h. If you want to have lunch, you can arrange this on request.

- The hostel does nog have a 24-hour reception. Guests can check-in until 17:30 h. In case you would like to check in after 17:30 h., you need to contact the reception in advance.

Surroundings
Those who have had enough of the water for a while can visit the Frisian capital Leeuwarden. Here are many interesting historical sights such as the Fries Museum. Grou itself is also cozy, especially in summertime with the many terraces and nice little shops and beautiful buildings with distinctive façades. Cycling in this area is worthwhile. The countryside here is almost as before, virtually untouched by industry or other modern novelties. Peace, space, farms in meadows and magnificent areas of scenic beauty.
