Hotel Amadeus is located in a historic building on the lively 'Grote Markt' in Haarlem. It can be easily reached by public transportation, as the station is less than 1 kilometre away from the hotel. Amsterdam and Zandvoort can be easily reached, also by car. In spring guest can pay a memorable visit to 'De Keukenhof,' the endless stretches of tulip fields. National Park Zuid-Kennemerland is worth visiting during all seasons. In Bennebroek you can find Europe's largest playground, the Linnaeushof.

The friendly staff will gladly offer guests personal service and attention. Hotel Amadeus has an atmospheric and traditionally Dutch living room for its guests. Here guest can comfortably relax after a long and active day. The small yet modernly decorated hotel rooms with their high ceilings are equipped with a bathroom with a shower and toilet. Every day guests can pay a visit to the atmospheric restaurant on the ground floor. Guests who wish to go out dining in Haarlem also have plenty of options. There are many small bistro's, good snack bars, and international culinary dining establishments within walking distance. Haarlem has a bustling night-life and many outdoor cafés in the summer.

Surroundings

Haarlem is more than 750 old and is a lively city with historic attractions like the St. Bavo Church, the city hall, and the 'Vleeshal' (historic meat market). It has interesting museums like the Frans Hals Museum and the Teylers museum as well. Haarlem is also a good city to go shopping, with a varied offer of stores, ranging from fancy haute couture to small antique and curiosity shops. There is also a wide choice of dining establishments. Amsterdam can be reached within 15 minutes by train.

David Good value for money hotel in Haarlem: 10 May 2009; 9.0; + Excellent location right on the Grote Markt in Haarlem Comprehensive and tasty breakfast Room was small but comfortable and no complaints for the price which was excellent value for money.

Alison Morton Friendly, clean and good value: 4 May 2009; 9.0; + The beds were spotless and the breakfast was fantastic. Coffee and tea making facilities in room which isn't always the case in Europe. Couldn't be in a better location. Ten minute walk from the station and 2 minutes from loads of restaurants. Innes was very friendly and made us feel welcome.; - The rooms are basic and small. The en suite was more like a cupboard but functioned well and was spotlessly clean.

Will hopefully use this hotel again when next in Haarlem.; - Shampoo bottle not replenished in room (stayed five nights and it remained empty all the time though I didn't specifically ask for it to be replaced). Concertina door to bathroom past its best. Can't think of anything else to object to.

Siebesma: 20 August 2007; 7.4; + Friendly staff Breakfast was good, although the choices are a bit limited.; - Single bedroom has small bathroom and very small shower. if you have a full figure, its a bit hard to get through the entrance of the shower. The toilet is cramped away in a corner. Again, with a full figure you have almost no moving space. No view out of window (looks out at roof of neighboring building).

Great location in a wonderful area, and only a 10 minute train-ride to Amsterstam's Central Station.; - The front desk guy wasn't particularly helpful or friendly. Also, we stayed on a Friday night and, although we slept with the help of earplugs, there was alot of noise due to the people partying in the square until 4am.

I intend booking again and taking a youth choir to stay.; - Steep stairs (and also at the associated hotel next door). This is not a complaint, but a warning to the elderly or those with heavy luggage - they really would find it difficult. Avoid the hotel during the Jazz Festival, unless you like jazz enough to want your windows rattled at 2 in the morning! It's REALLY loud and just outside the hotel. (Me? I loved it!) Book in advance, the hotel is extremely popular and is more than likely to be booked up if you arrive on spec.

When you arrive after 22u there is no one to receive you, there is no lobby or reception desk. The room is the same price as a room in the neauby hotel Joop's, which is much more luxureous.

Flip de Leeuw Betaalbaar goed hotel en zeer centraal in het centrum: 5 September 2011; 8.4; + Het hotel ligt midden in het centrum en uitgaansleven, het ontvangst was goed en vriendelijk, ook ontbijt was goed, met een mooi uitzicht op de markt; - De kamers aan de voorzijde zijn erg gehorig, marktopbouw, lopend uitgaans pupliek etc.
