Hotel Golden Tulip Lion d'Or is located in a beautiful building in the historic inner city of Haarlem. The hotel has been completely restyled by architect Bert Verweij in 2007. The Grote Markt square is within walking distance and the train station is a mere minute's walk away. Near the hotel there is also a bus that leaves every 10 minutes for Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.

According to the city archives the building in which this luxury hotel is located dates from 1810. The hotel places special emphasis on real hospitality and personal attention to its guests. The friendly hotel staff does its utmost to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Art lovers will appreciate the regularly changing exhibitions.
The comfortable rooms are all furnished with a large double bed or two large single beds and also have a private bathroom with a bath and/or shower and a toilet. In addition, the rooms are equipped with coffee and tea making facilities, internet, a hair dryer, trouser press, desk, television, and radio. The hotel has its own restaurant, bar, and lounge. There are also areas for business and/or festive gatherings, as well as a business centre.
Within 200 metres from the hotel there is a public parking garage, which is open 24 hours a day. There is also a bus stop nearby, where guests can take the Zuidtangent 300 line to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. This bus leaves every 10 minutes and can reach the airport in 40 minutes.

- The location of this hotel is perfect for a stay in Haarlem and to visit Amsterdam. It´s directly in front of the train and bus station, which makes it only a 20 minute train ride to downtown Amsterdam. There are also buses (#300) directly to Schipol airport twice every 15 minutes.
Breakfast is quite good and the staff very friendly.
I will stay here again the next time I visit Amsterdam!

- The Hotel is currently under exterior renovation - the windows seemed not to close properly and did not insulate the noise - the hotel is located directly across from the bus terminal and central rail station so it was difficult to sleep.

- Nice reception staff, but they dont seem to have local knowledge to advise a traveler guest.
I would advise the staff to try out the tourist areas and learn about Haarlem. I say this because the Hotel's information manual says the staff is there to assist and offer good information about where to eat and go, but when I asked the staff, they didnt have a clue because they dont go to the tourist places. So the hotel should educate it's staff or change the information guest manual.

- Gezellig weekendje weg in Haarlem.
- Ligging: recht tegenover Haarlem CS, dus je kunt heel makkelijk de trein pakken naar je bestemming. Bovendien ligt het hotel ook niet ver van de Grote Markt met diverse uitgaansgelegenheden e.d.
Service: Duidelijke werkwijzen- en tijden/ momenten omtrent ontbijt-tijden en het wassen van handdoeken en verschonen van beddengoed. En de 24-uurs front desk, waardoor je je niet druk hoeft te maken over het tijdstip waarop je naar het hotel teruggaat.
Al met al zou ik zo een volgende keer reserveren bij dit hotel.

TIP:
Op jullie info op de website staat dat het parkeren in de parkeergarage 2 euro per uur kost. Toen wij op zondagochtend echter onze auto ophaalden hoefden wij slechts 6 euro af te rekenen. Misschien handig als jullie de kosten iets meer specificeren op de site, want wij twijfelden over het hotel ivm de hoge parkeerkosten, die wij dus op minstens 30 euro begroot hadden!
