In the centre of the harbour city Harlingen hotel 't Heerenlogement is located in a beautiful old building along the canal. The hotel has an excellent restaurant. The rooms are decorated in different styles and are all equipped with a bath and/or shower, a toilet, telephone and television. With your own laptop you can make free use of a wireless Internet connection.
The staff can tell you a number of amusing anecdotes about the hotel. For example, the first good review of the hotel was written by nineteenth century Dutch author 'Jacob van Lennep'. As a student he stayed in 't Heerenlogement in 1823 during a hiking tour in the northern part of The Netherlands. In his diary he wrote how much he enjoyed his stay. The hotel has also functioned as a stamp station for the famous Frisian 'Elfstedentocht', an ice skating tour along 11 cities. In and around the city centre there is an abundance of lively cafés and restaurants. You can also find a number of museums and galleries that display art works of Frisian artists. Water sports enthusiasts are drawn to Harlingen as well. From here you can easily reach the Frisian islands Vlieland and Terschelling by ferry boat.
Food and Drinks
The extensive breakfast buffet is served in the cosy breakfast room every morning. You can have breakfast from Monday until Friday between 07:00 and 09:30 h. and from 07:30 to 10:00 h. during the weekend. The hotel has a spacious but cosy restaurant with a good chef. The small menu offers tasty dishes that are inspired by the province of Friesland. After dinner the homely bar is a nice place to relax and read a book or play one of the hotel's board games. When the weather is nice guests can sit on the outside terrace.

Surroundings
Hotel Het Heerenlogement is just one of the numerous interesting buildings in Harlingen; the city houses over 500 monuments. The harbour of Harlingen is still in use to this day. When you visit the harbour, you can watch the large ocean vessels that transport cargo from all over the world. Harlingen is popular among people that have their own boat, although you also have the option to rent a boat and make a nice tour. A visit to one of the Frisian islands is recommended as well. The ferry boats to Terschelling and Vlieland leave frequently.
