Hellevoetsluis is one of the largest marinas in The Netherlands. It used to be a marine harbour and it was here that the famous 'zilvervloot' or treasure fleet - the ships with valuables that sailed from America to Spain in the 16th and 17th century - was landed here by Piet Hein. Buildings such as the 'Tromphuys' and 'Ruyterhuys', named after Michiel de Ruyter, still remind of this time. The former dry dock where the maintenance of minesweepers was done now houses a museum.
Beach Hotel Cape Helius is part of the resort Cape Helius. It has a restaurant and a bar with a terrace that leads onto the beach. There is also a beach kiosk and a reading room. The spacious rooms and suites are decorated in maritime style and have a luxury bathroom with bath, a television, coffee and tea making facilities and a veranda or balcony.
