Hilversum is also known as the broadcasting city of the Netherlands. A visit to the Omroepmuseum (broadcasting museum) is therefore truly recommended. Here you can undergo the image and sound experience, and learn more about the history of Dutch radio and television. In the area there are several attractive villages as well, such as Laren. Those who like aquatic sports can go to the lakes of recreational area Loosdrechtse plassen.

The TV in bedroom is old with a really poor reception
The hotel is only staffed with a receptionist - it has an abandoned and worn out air, lots of carpets worn and areas needing to be painted.
Breakfast was only ok, i had to ask for low fat milk as there was only full fat milk on first morning - nowadays many people have to watch fat intake.
overall we don't understand how this hotel has a four star rating

We stayed in the Tulip Inn in Hilversum, which is 30 kms away from Amsterdam. The location was nice, free car parking, and breakfast included, which was good. Hotel staff were polite, and everything was good, overall.

Beds were uncomfortable, and two single beds, rather than a double bed, as we booked as a couple. We had a (ex) smoking room and the smell still lingered which was a bit bothersome. Late check-in, only at 15:00.

The hotel was really nice and clean and well located. Breakfast was excellent. We were offered a special rate so for us it was really good value, also we appreciated the possibilty of changing our dates of stay

The bed was not that confortable. (I found the mattress was too soft)
We had two coffes the first day but then coffe and creamer weren't replaced the next day.
I found it odd not to have a hairdryer in the room, but we asked the reception and were given one immediately.

The electric water can was dirty with a brown
lime (calcium)scale (aanslag). This can easily be corrected by boiling water with lemon or vinegar for a few minutes!
