Description
De Gouden Klok is a small and unpretentious 2-star hotel in Holwerd. The hotel is perfectly accommodating for guests who wish to pay a visit to Ameland. The bus to the harbour is only 150 metres away from the hotel. Guests who wish to wade through the mudflats, or take the earliest possible boat to the island, can have breakfast as early as is needed.

Holwerd has a protected monumental town centre. The village is mostly known for the pier that is the landing place for the ferry to the island Ameland. Holwerd still has an old mill, 'De Hoop', which dates from 1873. There are also several old houses and churches from the 17th, 18th, and 19th century. Here you can also find the 'Hegebourren', a characteristic and charming street that runs across the mound on which the village is built.
