Description
The detached farmhouse in which the hotel is housed, is situated on a beautiful spot and offers a magnificent view of the Wadden Sea and the picturesque village Holwerd. Holwerd has pretty historic houses by nostalgic canals. Holwerd is also known for the Holwerder Pier, which stretches out 2 kilometers into the sea and this is the longest pier of Europe. From this pier depart the mudflat walkers and seal-watching cruise boats . Also the ferry to Ameland sails from here and arrives at the beautiful island after approximately 45 minutes.
The hotel rooms also offer a great view; of the Wadden Sea dike and in the distance the lighthouses of Ameland and Terschelling. The spacious rooms are freshly decorated, have fine beds and a bathroom with shower and toilet. There is also a TV in the room. In the guest room downstairs there's a cozy sitting area and who wants play one of the many games. If there is sufficient interest, guests can witness the original fish-smoking.

Who wants can join an organized walking tour from Hotel de Wadden Stelpshoeve Akkrum. Even walking all the way to Ameland is a possibility and this is truly a unique experience. Also fun is cycling or walking through the Frisian terp area, along Dokkum, Damwoude, Marrum and Hattum. In Moddergat is the Fiskershûske, one of the fishermans houses where the fishing history of the previous centuries is explained. A city trip to Leeuwarden is worth making, here you can enjoy shopping and walking around the historic center.
