Amsterdam ArenA
The Amsterdam ArenA is a modern football stadium, with a capacity of up to 51,859 seats. It has been the home grounds for AFC Ajax since August 1996.
UEFA rewards football stadiums with a star status. In Europe there are about nineteen stadiums with a five star status. The ArenA and 'De Kuip' (home grounds of Feijenoord) are the only Dutch stadiums with this status. The five star rating means a football stadium can host specific events, such as the UEFA Champions League or the finals of the UEFA Cup. Seating capacity must be for over 50,000 spectators.
The ArenA was the first football stadium in Europe to have a sliding roof, which can be closed during bad weather. Most of the time the stadium is used for football matches, but it is also perfect for live concerts. Famous artists such as Madonna, U2 and Robbie Williams have performed at the ArenA.
