Noorderkerk in Amsterdam
The Noorderkerk (Northern Church) lies in the Jordaan neighbourhood and was designed by the city architect Hendrick de Keyser. The Noorderkerk was the second Protestant Church in the Netherlands.
The design is a combination of an octagonal floor plan and a cross-shaped layout. The first stone of the Noorderkerk was laid in 1620, which is now commemorated by a plaque.
Concerts are regularly held at the Noorderkerk, although people can also still enjoy church services here. The church is open to the public a few days a week.
The Noorderkerk lies on the Noordermarkt where you can often find some good bargains.
