Floating flower market in Amsterdam
Flowers galore at the Singel in Amsterdam! Along the canal are many boats full of flowers and bulbs in just about every colour.
In years gone by boats were used to transport flowers to the market. Although the flowers are now delivered by car, the boats still function as market stalls. The floating market is unique in its kind. This is the place if you are looking for novelty souvenirs, such as clogs and windmills in all shapes and sizes. Christmas trees and decorations embellish the market in the winter time.
The market is free, although it may be difficult to leave empty handed! It is open daily until about 17:30.
If you want to get to the Leidseplein from the Muntplein, then this would be the nicest route to take.
