Dutch Maritime Museum Amsterdam
The Nederlandse Scheepvaartmuseum (Dutch Maritime Museum) in Amsterdam holds the largest collection of boats in the world. Displays of life size ships, models and maps offer a chronological view of Dutch naval history.
The museum is housed in the former naval warehouse of the Admiralty, which is over 300 years old. This unique collection tells the story of the maritime past of the Netherlands and will take you back to the times of trading voyages, the Dutch East India Company (VOC) and overseas colonies. Portraits of naval heroes and original wooden figureheads complement the collection.
The museum has now opened its doors again after a period of renovation.
