Energetica Museum in Amsterdam
Inside the Energetica Museum you will find a beautiful collection of elevator cages, large electronic machines, household appliances and radios. These objects give a good impression of cultural history and of current innovations.
The museum is located in a building, that was designed by the Amsterdam civil service in 1903. The local city council has nominated the building to receive the status of 'Rijksmonument' (national listed building).
In 2006 the museum management announced some plans, to change the function of Energetica. The museum will be transformed into the 'Nationaal Publiekscentrum voor Energie' (National public centre for energy), and the focus will be on the role of energy in the world. Different programmes have been set up for everyday visitors, as well as for school children. Knowledge about the importance of energy is vital in these programmes.
