Hash, Marihuana & Hemp Museum in Amsterdam
The Hash museum opened its doors to public in 1985. It is located right in the middle of the famous 'Red light district', so it attracts quite a crowd.
Inside the museum you can find a world of information about the plants. Through a large number of pictures and posters you get a good impression of the cultural, religious and medicinal aspects of the plants. The museum also houses a collection of traditional pipes.
Hash, marihuana and hemp are most often made into soft drugs. But the plants can also be used to make rope or paper for example. Especially hemp is very versatile. This plant can be made into (ecological) clothing.
A souvenir shop is also part of the museum, where you can buy hemp clothing and smoking materials, as well as seeds to grow your own plants. If you would like to see the different growing stages of the plants, then visit the small garden inside the museum.
