DeLaMar Theater
The DeLaMar Theatre was opened at the end of November in 2010. The theatre was completely renovated and offers the visitor two halls of respectively 601 and 939 seats.
The original DeLaMar Theatre stems from 1947. The former school building and warehouse were converted to a theatre just after the war. Unfortunately, times weren't good and by 1950 the theatre was simply unable to pay its bills. Two years later new energy was injected by a well-known Dutch artist amongst others.
Form the early 1950's until 2005 the "Nieuwe DeLaMar Theater" served as a prominent theater in Amsterdam, staging famous musicals and performances.
The theatre is now much bigger than before as the building connects the old theatre with the old Calypso cinema nextdoor.
The theater was officially opened by her Royal Mayesty Queen Beatrix in 2010.
