Flemish Brabant
In the province Flemish Brabant are 65 municipalities, including provincial capital Leuven, Halle and Vilvoorde. The province came into being when the former province of Brabant was separated in a Flemish and a Walloon part, right along the language border. Flemish Brabant surrounds the Brussels Capital Region.
In the historic university city of Leuven you can enjoy a pint after a stroll along the Beguinage, the Grand Place and City Hall. From this great city, you will reach Brussels and airport Zaventem by train in no time. In the region Hageland, several nice towns can be found. Here you can visit the Gardens of Hoegaarden, the castle of Horst and recreation area Halve Maan in Diest. Or grab your bike and enjoy the flowering trees along orchard route Boomgaardroute in spring. Around Brussels you can stroll in the Green Belt, a region with many parks, forests and gardens. Rose Garden Coloma, the Royal Museum for Central Africa and the National Botanical Garden of Belgium are among the attractions in this region.
