Beguinage Bruges
The peaceful beguinage 'Begijnhof' (beguinage) is the only surviving convent in Bruges. The entrance gate is only accessible from the stone bridge and is a wonderful place where you can wander around in peace.
The beguinage was built in the 13th century by the countess of Flanders. The complex includes a beguinage church and a thirty white-painted houses which are almost all built around a central courtyard. One beguine house is made into a museum.
