At the Diamond Museum in Bruges, the history of the city as the oldest diamond centre of Europe is shown. Bruges was an important trading city from the 14th century it was also the main diamond trading and manufacturing city in the Netherlands. However, at the beginning of the 16th century the diamond industry moved to Antwerp.
