Vesting Bourtange
The fortress Bourtange is located near the German border, in the beautiful village of Westerwolde in the southeastern part of the province of Groningen. This unique historical fortress was very important between 1580 and 1851. When it was discontinued, the village became agricultural. The fortress was restored in the sixties.
