Eindhoven
Welcome to the ever lively Eindhoven, the fifth city of the Netherlands. Lampegat (lamp hole) as the city is also lovingly called, is known for its modern architecture. The city centre is proof of this with its three major residential towers: de Vesteda Toren, De Admirant and De Regent. Aside from these architectural marvels, this city is also blessed with a number of gorgeous parks. The Stadswandelpark and Genneper Parks are always near at hand. Just outside the of the city are also beautiful scenic areas, such as the Strabrechtse Heide and the Leenderbos. The Stabrechtse Heide alone offers 1500 hectares of stunning countryside.
Eindhoven enjoys a particluar fame as it is the headquarters of the Dutch company Philips as well as the first ever city with a light bulb factory. A museum is now attached to the factory. Another impressive museum is the Van Abbemuseum, which predominantly displays modern art.
Eindhoven has an abundant choice in terms of nightlife. The best known row of pubs is on the Stratumseind, but other streets in Eindhoven also offer nocturnal entertainment. Culture lovers can visit the Parktheater and the Music Centre Frits Philips.
