Friesland
Fryslan (the Frisian name of this province) offers the tourist a wide range of possibilities. You can cycle through the woods, enjoy the water, visit a city or get a breath of fresh air on an island. Fryslan is and outstanding example of a tourist province. In the south of the province you will find Gaasterland, a place that really seems out of place in Fryslan. Gaasterland is hilly and wooded, a stark contrast to the otherwise pretty flat province.
The Frisian lakes require almost no further explanation. You can enjoy the water, whether you choose the lake Sneekermeer, Tjeukemeer, Slotermeer or Fluessen. Would you rather visit a town, you can choose from Sneek, Leeuwarden, Franeker or one of the other Eleven Towns. All Wadden Islands, except Texel, belong to the province of Friesland and together they form a very special and beautiful attraction.
